Verona vs Siena

My itinerary is tentatively Venice (2 days) > Verona (1 day) > Florence (3 days) > Rome (3 days) I'm allowing 1 day between each city to travel by train. I'm wondering if I should skip Verona, and gain 2 days, for a chance to spend a day in Siena and an extra day on Florence. Advice appreciated! Thanks!

I guess it would come down to what you want to do in Verona and what you would want to do in Siena and on a 4th day in Florence, and how relatively they are to each other.

Personally, if it were me, I'd add the time to Venice (and I quite like Siena, and have friends in Verona), 2 days in Venice (one jetlagged??) barely scrapes the surface. But that's me, and not you.

You need to evaluate the relative worth TO YOU of the two places you are choosing between.

Have you ever visited Italy? If not, add a day to Venice and Rome. We have enjoyed all these cities. Verona on a day with the market was fun. In the summer there is opera at the coliseum. It is the smallest place of all and easier to enjoy for a one night stay. Ciao!

My preference would be for Siena but as stated above, you should add a day to both Rome and Venice.

Hi John, so you’re spending:
Venice (3 nights)
Verona (2 nights)
Florence (4 nights)
Rome (4 nights)
If so, I believe you can still take a day trip to Siena but you’ll appreciate it more if you spend the night. The reason I say that is because I ordered a lemon cello to go at the restaurant where I had dinner and walked over to Il Campo square and sat on the ground with all the other tourists and people watched. There was something magical about experiencing Siena after all the day trippers left and seeing Siena at night.
