Verona? Volterra? Itinerary advice?

Clearly these are very different places, but our itinerary is getting a bit scrunched, and I think we're going to have to let one of these places go, in order to get in the "essentials" like Florence, Siena, and Venice...any thoughts would be appreciated!

In terms of our itinerary, we're definitely going to Naples/Pompeii, Rome, Florence, Venice, and Cinque Terre, as well as a few hill towns in Tuscany (Orvieto, Cortona, and Siena, as of now). Just wanted to throw that info in, in case that will influence somebody's advice. :)

Thank you!

Hi Jenn,
I haven't been to Volterra but we spent 3 nights in Verona in early April and loved it! There is so much more there than Romeo and Juliet's balcony. Rick's self-guided walk provides a great overview of the city, we had fun and met some interesting people hanging out at the Enoteca Oreste (funky wine bar), the Piazza's Erbe and Bra are lovely, and the restaurants were really amazing. We stayed at Hotel Torcolo and enjoyed the location convenient to the city center. Verona is a 90 minute train ride from Venice.

Verona is a short out-of-the-way trip between Venice and Florence. Volterra is really out of the way in the very nice Tuscan hillside. However, there is a way to get from Volterra to the CT on Trenitalia. Trenitalia will bus you from the Volterra train station to Cecina, a coastal town, to pick up the train to the CT. The entire journey takes 3.0hrs-3.5hrs. depending on the run.
