Verona Transportation

Hello, this might be a silly question, but we will be staying in Verona for a couple nights on this trip to Italy... Do taxis pickup at most hotels in Verona? This will be near the end of our trip and we will be traveling "not so light". I want to make sure we can get to and from the train station as seamlessly as possible.

Taxis will pick up as long as it is legal for them to drive on your street. I did have to walk to a taxi stand once when a weekly market took up the whole street in front of my hotel in Ferrara.

How heavy is "not so light"?

We stayed on a pretty narrow street and took a taxi from and to the train station. The hotel had a small pull-in area for cars in front, so they wouldn't block the street. You can check with your hotel to be sure.

To Zoe, I'm not sure... I will be away and shopping for over a week untilI get to Verona, but will do some laundry in Firenze. Depends on how disciplined I remain beforehand. And Virginia, from Virginia: thanks, I will check with the hotel beforehand, once we select one!

I think you will have no problems.

We arrived in Verona in the midst of a downpour and had a group of 5 so we had to wait 10 minutes-ish for a taxi. I was at the train station a few times throughout the week and, all other times, there was an abundant supply of taxis.

He gave us a business card that had the city taxi info on it to call if necessary. We stayed on a pretty narrow street so he dropped us off at the corner so we had about a 20 foot walk to our door. There were plenty of streets that seemed to narrow for taxis, or, didn't allow any traffic at certain times. But it would never have been a far walk to an area where a taxi was allowed.

Your hotel will call a taxi for you when you are ready to leave. If you want more reassurance, email your hotel and ask if it is easily accessible by taxi and if not, how the far the walk would be. I suspect it would not be far.

But you will have to load your luggage on and off the train. If you are anticipating having more than you can carry, either bring less with you, discard clothes along the way, or ship stuff home.

Thanks Kristen, no... we won't have more than we can carry. I'm used to hefting luggage on and off the trains. I just wanted to make sure that taxis come to most of the areas of the city (or close). Thanks so much for the feedback!!!
