i am arriving in verona and will driving to venice but stopping in padua - are the roads ok, my sister said there are road problems in that area, especially padua - is that true?

I guess it depends on what she means by "problems". Padova is right off the A4 autostrada and easy to get to but, as is the case with most cities in Italy, driving in downtown can be tricky. You have to be particularly careful to avoid the ZTL zones which are forbidden to drive in unless you're a resident. They are marked with signs but easy to miss if you're not looking for them.
