Hi
We are going to Lake Garda for 3 days at the end of a 3 week trip, and will be departing from Venice. We have 3 days to fill prior to our departure...any thoughts on where to visit after Lake Garda (Verona, Padua, Bologna?), and where best to stay the nice prior to our flight out of Venice? Heard staying in Venice is not always the best option. Thanks!

Padua was by far our favorite city in the Veneto (after Venice!), but we also stayed for a week in Treviso and drove to the Venice airport from there. I believe there are trains and buses, too, and even a taxi would not be ridiculous --- it's less than half an hour's drive.
There's also a Courtyard by Marriott out at the Marco Polo Airport that's pretty reasonably priced.
You will find a Best Western Hotel also near the airport. Less expensive than the Courtyard. We stayed in Verona for 10 days and really enjoyed the city. Easy to walk around and plenty sites to see.
