Verona to Tremezzo (lake Como)

Hi...We are traveling from Verona to Tremezzo Lake Como by rail on October 8. I know we have to travel back to Milan Central then take a train up to Como. My question is should we take the train to the town of Como and try to find transportation to Tremezzo or take the train to Vernazza and take a ferry over. I’m not sure if ferries are limited on October 8th. The site for ferries is so confusing. Any help would be appreciated!

Vernazza is not on lake Como, maybe you meant Varenna.
You can either go to Como by train (via Milano Centrale) and take a ferry or bus to Tremezzo, or you can take a train to Varenna (via Milano Centrale), then a ferry to Tremezzo. Either way works, and the travel times probably not too dissimilar.
The ferry ride along the Como branch (from Como to Tremezzo) is spectacular, therefore my preference would be to try the Como way at least once (either going or returning to Milan).
Ferries are available all year, although in Fall and winter a bit on a reduced schedule compared to summer. The website hasn’t yet posted the fall timetable.
