Verona to Bolzano to Ortisei on same day

We are going to the Dolomites in early September for the first time. We plan on flying from London to Verona, train from Verona to Bolzano and then take the bus to Ortisei. I see there is a shuttle from the Verona airport to the train station. Are tickets purchased on or near the bus? I am also wondering if we need to buy train tickets from Verona to Bolzano before we arrive or if we can purchase the day of arrival with no worries. I am hoping getting a bus from Bolzano to Ortisei should not be a problem. Please offer any suggestions or experience you have had with this same itinerary. Thank you for your help!

It looks like you can buy a single ticket that includes the Aerobus plus the train to Bolzano.

NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH DB AND ÖBB RAILWAYS: CUMULATIVE TRAIN+AEROBUS TICKET
Thanks to the partnership between ATV and German (DB) and Austrian (ÖBB) railways, all travelers flying to Verona, by purchasing a single cumulative ticket, can use the AEROBUS service from the Catullo Airport to Verona Porta Nuova (or vice versa) to take a train to reach locations in the South Tyrol and in Trentino.
Fares for the cumulative ticket (train+ATV Aerobus) for South Tyrol (Bolzano, Bressanone, and Fortezza), for Trento and for Rovereto can be purchased from DB's and ÖBB's websites.
For more information www.atv.verona.it

Go to https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html and put in "Verona Aeroporto" as the start point.

The bus to Ortisei takes only an hour or so and they run quite late. Unless you are talking a very late arrival it is easy to make the whole trip from Verona Airport. You can also take a taxi for about 90 Euro Bolzano to Ortisei.

Please note that Oebb tickets are good only for EC trains on the line (one every two hours), run jointly by Austrian and German railways (the engineer will be from Trenord); frecciarossa and regionals are run by trenitalia, with their own tickets.
