Verona or Parma

I will have 10 days in Italy in May (3 weeks total in Europe with Prague and Germany) and had planned 2 nights in Verona and 3 nights in Parma. One day in Parma will be a food tour.

Last part is 4 nights in CT and 2 nights in Lucca since I will fly out of Pisa. CT and Lucca I have been to before, but not Parma or Verona.

Is this too much time in Parma and Verona? Or not enough? Still trying to decide how much time in Prague and Germany, too. All suggestions are welcome!

Charlotte, Two nights (hopefully two full days) should be about right for Verona. Haven't been to Parma. TC

I also have not been to Parma. If the food tour takes up most of a day, leaving you one other full day for Parma sites, that sounds reasonable. If you decide you want to hop a train to Modena, for more variety, you could decide that on the fly and the train takes half an hour each way.

I would switch it to 3 nights Verona, 2 nights Parma. I've been to both a couple of times. If you get tired of Verona, you could day trip to Vicenza or several other places nearby.

Agree with Zoe. More Verona and less Parma. Near Verona there is also lake Garda, which would make a nice day trip. If you have been to the CT already, why do you want to spend so many nights there? I would cut down to 2 nights max and add more time elsewhere. Have you visited Venice before? Or the Dolomites? Both are close to Verona. I would spend some nights there if you have never been.

Thanks everyone. As far as spending 4 nights in CT, I have made friends in Vernazza, and also do not mind doing nothing but hanging out in CT, but I am still in my planning stage!

I haven't made it to Parma yet, but I spent 2 nights in Verona. I enjoyed Verona very much and wish I had been able to spend more time there.

Last time we were in Verona we spent 3 days and wished we had a couple of more days to explore. It's a beautiful city and you'll have no problem filling your time while there!

2 days in Verona and 3 in Parma. If Parma doesn't hold your interest, make a day trip to Bologna - less than an hour by train, run frequently during the day.

Lovely trip-I've been to Verona 3 times and will go back again. You might consider going to bologna instead of Parma (if you're taking the train you have to connect in Bologna - a little over an hours trip) and for a REALLY special Foodie tour check out this link (you may have to copy/past) http://www.timesofitaly.com/det-tour.asp?ID=21&IDcategoria=1 . This takes you to both Parma & Modena for the absolute best in tasting. It's rated the #1 attraction in Bologna, check out others comments.
