verona on a Monday?

I know RS says don't go on Monday, but it lloks like some things aer open starting at 1:30 pm. Is it worth it to stop in Verona for 4 hours (2-6) on the way to Milan on a Monday? What could we do/see?

elaine, Depending on your interests.... > Wander around Piazza Bra and Piazza Erbe and enjoy a fine meal or some Gelato. There are LOTS of restaurants on Piazza Bra facing the Amphitheatre (a bit "touristy" but I didn't mind) > Explore the large Roman Amphitheatre. When will you be there? Opera season is still on, so the stages will be set up. Nabucco is playing tomorrow (July 27). > Have a look at the fictional Romeo & Juliet garden and balcony > Explore the grandeur of Castelvecchio (have a look at the following website for some comments): www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Italy/Veneto/Verona-140824/Things_To_Do-Verona-Castelvecchio-BR-1.html While it's possible to walk from the station to Piazza Bra, I'd probably use the local Bus (details in the Guidebook) or a Taxi. Happy travels!

Absolutely. Verona is a lovely Italian city. There are a number of original villas open to the public, (www.castellobevilacqua.com-outside the city, Palazzo Castellani Di Sermeti, (www.palazzocastellani.com) Villa Della Torre (home of Allegrini wine ..www.villadellatorre.it)some wonderful restaurants, the amphitheater, walking along the river, etc. Just a short drive south of Verono is a wonderful little unknown town built on the river, Montova (www.borghetto.it), Palazzo Verita-Poeta (www.palazzoverita.it) Verona has a very active 'Chamber of Commerce, so you might check their website. I think it is www.sposamiaverona.it.
