Verona last minute hotel

I have left booking hotels in some cities to the last minute - Verona is one - we need 2 rooms - they can be singles (twin rooms) but we would like a hotel in the old city. On booking 99% of hotels are booked - and the rates for 2 rooms are very expensive. Are there any 3 star hotels that might be smaller that you recommend? Need 2 rooms for 2 nights in July

We stayed at Hotel Giulietta e Romeo in Verona last year, and we were very impressed with the hotel. Our room was beautiful, and the breakfast buffet was huge. Very centrally located. A couple minutes' walk from the Roman Arena.

The prices are usually much higher for the opera season at the Roman Arena, plus the inventory of better options is gone. I would just pick one that’s left, or if you aren’t attending the opera, look at staying at Padova, Mantova or Vicenza, instead. My preference would be Padova or Mantova although I have stayed at all three besides multiple times at Verona.

We stayed at the Novo Hotel Rossi, a modern hotel with a great breakfast buffet, about a 5 minute walk from the train station. The HOHO bus stopped right in front of the train station, so we purchased the 2 day pass, which brought us to the touristy section each day. If you are desperate to find a reasonably priced hotel in Verona, you may want to look into this one. We did a day trip by train to Padova, which we loved.

hey hey KeeksCanada
what are your dates and budget in euros? at this late date in the game, look at what's available. slim pickens to chose from, probably expensive. what are you expecting with 3 stars which means more amenities than how nice the place is.
it is high high summer season with many wanting to stay in verona and have booked months ago. if you can't find what you want look outside of the city in a closer town.
i would look at your other cities waiting for last minute to see what is out there. good luck and enjoy

Our stay at Relais Empire, which is about a 5 minute walk to the arena, was very pleasant. I booked it months in advance, but if you are lucky, they may have last minute availability.

You don't mention exact dates or budget but you could look at Hotel Verona. It's technically outside the city center but you can see the Roman gate to the city from outside the hotel and it's maybe 5 minutes down a large but tree lined street to Piazza Bra. At 114e/night that's pretty budget for season in Verona. Also the buses run down that street that circle downtown - the streets are too small in the old city - so you could easily catch a bus to the other side of old town from here.

Nearby there is Ariel BnB for about the same price. Some dates are not available in July.

You may be able to do better downtown on a room rental or maybe a BnB (my favorite funky one downtown closed) but not for a hotel at this point I don't think.
These are not personal recommendations just some searches.

Good luck!
