Hello All,
I'll be spending a quick two days in Verona in late September, any suggestions on where to stay? Any suggestions on "must see" lists or things to avoid?
Hello All,

I haven't been for several years, so I have no specific hotel recommendations. Stay in the Old City Center. Google the Verona Card: first, it's a good idea; and second, it lists nearly all the sights. The only sight I went to that was a disappointment was the Roman theatre. Visit the Arena in the late afternoon in the warm light. There's an art museum I went to because of a special exhibit, otherwise it wasn't memorable. There's a good view from the tower. Juliet's House was marginally interesting as seeing what a well-to-do home was like in the Middle Ages. San Zeno church was beautiful and different from most.
Hotel Torcolo is about as central a location as one could want. It is possible to walk there from the train station, but with luggage a taxi is much better and not that expensive. I think a bus is also available. Google them to get the email address and contact them directly. Verona is small enough that you can walk everywhere. The old Roman Theater is really neat (just my opinion) as is people watching at Piazza Erbe. San Zeno church is very interesting as is the castle.
We stayed at the Giulietta y Romeo in 2014 and really enjoyed it, as we did our short time in Verona. On arrival we took a cab to from the train station to the hotel, but it was such an easy walk on paved sidewalks that we walked to the train station with our bags at the end of our stay.
I recommend Hotel Milano in Verona. We stayed there a couple of years ago (I think it's listed in one of RS books). It's very close to Piazza Bra and the Amphitheater so centrally located. Verona is a lovely town!

Castelvecchio is one of the nicest museums in Europe, taking you in and out of the old castle.
I always stay on Piazza del Erbe at Hotel Aurora when in Verona. Love that piazza with its sights and shopping. Climb the clock tower for a great view. Short walk to Piazza Bra to tour the ampitheatre. Great shopping street (forget the name) links the two piazzas. I love to eat at Maffei which is on the piazza Erbe.
