Verona Hotel and Wine tour suggestions

Hi, we have 2 nights to spend in Verona in October and are looking for a friendly and possibly funky/modern boutique hotel in Verona near the center. We are open to suggestions. Also would like recommendations on a wine tour to amarone country fr the day, for those with experience in that area. Thanks in advance!

We stayed at the Best Western Firenze... We loved everything about it .The location and price were great. We walked from the train station with our luggage. I realize Best Western is not a boutique hotel but this was a classy place. Not like most Best Western I have seen in the US. The furniture in the room was beautiful with a wood inlay. The room/bathroom was sparkling clean. It had a huge breakfast buffet. We also stayed 2 nights. Verona is one of my best Italian memories.

Last May we stayed at Hotel Milano for 3 nights. It is modern, and about a 5 minute walk to Piazza Bra--very centrally located. We did a wine tour to two Amarone wineries in the Valpolicello region with Pagus tours. It was an 8 passenger van and our tour guide, Sophia, was very informative and interesting. We booked ahead, before we left for Italy, but others booked that day. The tour was in the afternoon, so we had time to explore the city in the morning. At the end of the tour, a bunch of us from the tour got a recommendation for dinner from Sophia and want our to dinner together. (it happened to be a Rick Steves recommended place, as well!)

This is the exact place I was considering, Virginia. For the wine, that is... Thanks so much!

We stayed in Verona in 2012 and took a tour with Laura of Valpolicella tours. She came and picked us up and toured us through the wine region and then to her family winery http://www.brigaldara.it/homepage.asp

Her family also owns this wine suite in Verona. Everything about her is first class. She's from Verona but has lived abroad and she speaks many languages. I would highly recommend any group or custom tour with her.

Hotel Torcolo isn't funky or modern, but the location is about a central as one can get. Would stay there again without hesitation. Just google it and see what you think.

I always stay at Hotel Aurora on piazza Erbe in Verona. Great location. Ask for room overlooking the piazza. Google them You won't be sorry. They have a great breakfast included in the price and they are a wonderful staff.

For what it's worth, I tried several times to get in touch with Laura of Valpolicello Tours last year, 2016--email, phone--and had no luck.
