Verona for a night

My wife and I are breaking our Venice to Salzburg train trip next fall with a day/night in Verona. Any hotel suggestions? Activities? thanks

Hi, Verona struck us a nice place to slow down, stroll about, see the local sites etc. As for a hotel we are thinking 3 starish, well manged, clean, local ownership rather than an extravagant hotel chain, and in the old part of town.

Verona is a wonderful town to visit for a day or two.
you will love the colosseum! The pizza at the "fast food" places on the piazza is very good too!

I'd recommend you use www.venere.com to find a hotel to your liking. We've used this site on several trips to Italy and have never been disappointed.

you can search by * count, location, price...whatever works for you.

We found some great deals on this site, and swear by it for our trips!

Good luck, and enjoy Verona...I wish I could go back right now.

We were very happy with the Hotel Aurora. It's right at the Piazza Erbe. The room was nicely furnished, very clean, and with a bathroom that looked like it had been renovated very recently. The hotel has a roof deck where you can get a drink and watch the scene below. The breakfast choices were extensive. The people working there are very pleasant and really go out of their way to be helpful. Highly recommended!

We had one night in Verona before flying out of their airport. We stayed at the Hotel Torcolo. It's in Rick's book and was one of the top rated on Trip Advisor. They also took care of our 5:00AM wake-up call and booked our 5:30 taxi to the airport. It was nice and clean. We had a top floor unit and it had a big bathroom.

One thing to add. If you want to have a nice dinner, you may want to try and make reservations. It's tough one one night's notice though. We got lucky and the restaurant below the Hotel Torcolo had one place for two available. We arrived at 7:30 and were pretty lonely until the crowds started showing up around 8:00 (all with reservations).
