We only have one night in Verona and will not have a car, so we are thinking we should stay somewhere in town to make the best of our time there. We prefer B&Bs, small inns or boutique hotels, but the ones we are finding seem to be situated outside of the city necessitating a bus trip in. Does anyone have suggestions for a place within walking distance of the city center that would fit our description? Pricewise, if possible, we'd like to keep it at around 120 euros. Thanks for your help !
Verona is lovely and it is well worth it to stay inside the city. We stayed at La Finestra sull'Arena, just steps from the Arena. From our balcony we would look down on Via Mazzini and around to see the Arena. It is listed as a B&B but we had the apartment. I think the upstairs suite is more like a B&B. The owner, Mossimo, is very kind and helpful. I don't know if he does one-night stays (we stayed 2 nights) but it is worth asking. You can read reviews on Tripadvisor; it is listed under "Specialty Lodging".
You can use the interactive map on Tripadvisor to locate other B&Bs and hotels within the city.
Susan,
I have stayed in Verona a few times. I have stayed at the Bologna and the Torcolo. I think that you can do either for 120 euros, depending on when you go. Both times I was there in July. The Torcolo was about 85 euros (for one) in 2005, and the Bologna was around 100 maybe 105 in 2009. Both were pleasant places and the breakfast was excellent. Both are right in the center very close to the Arena. The Torcolo was a bit tired-looking, but the staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the location was great b/c it was close to things, but on a quiet little piazza off a tiny side street.I would not stay outside the city unless you want to spend a few days on Lago di Garda. That is worth a visit, but if you are planning on visiting more cities then you want to stick to what you are planning. When you are in Verona a great eating splurge for me was Taverna di via Stella in the old center. Have a great time!

We had a nice stay at Hotel Aurora. Its location can't be beat - - right at Piazza Erbe. I'm pretty sure it's in your price range, too.
Susan I look forward to hearing what you end up with. We also wanted to spend one night in Verona this past September. Every place we enquired about said they had availability but only if we stayed for a 3-night minimum. We ended up spending the night in Desenzano.
