Hi, we have decided to see an opera as part of a day trip to Verona from Venice. Its taking place indoors in an opera house and not in the outdoor coliseum. Its an afternoon event on a Sunday and looks like lots of people are attending based on the available tickets I just saw. Is a jacket and jeans okay or does this tend to be a bit dressier event? This is for Bellni's Norma.

Unless it's a premiere event it's not formal.
Maybe blue jeans may be a bit too informal, especially if they have holes like it is fashionable today, but any cotton pants that can pass as slacks with a nice shirt and a jacket will do.
