Has anyone stayed here? How close to the harbour is it? Any view? thanks
We stayed at Bar Baia Saracena 3 weeks ago for 4 nights. We were offered via email one of the two 70E rooms that have a balcony on the main street. When we asked about the 60E room in RS' book, she said it was a little smaller and faced the walkway-steps leading up the hill to other homes and actually was the beginning of the Vernazza-Corniglia trail. The room was very quiet, private bath, and very small fridge (milk, wine, fruit, yogurt all fit). With the window closed very little train noise, which I think with the other 2 rooms facing the street would be louder. 51 steps from the street to the door! The street is about 5 minutes from the train to the harbor, and this place about midway, not at the breakwater as listed in the book. The restaurant is at the harbor. No harbor view from our back room and not much from the 2 front room balconies, but 5-10 min. further up the steps from the entrance is a beautiful view of the town and water. We thought it was a great place to stay.
Ellie, the entire village is about 300 yards in length, so the harbor is never far away! Have a great trip!
