Vernazza room for 2 - quiet with view

My husband and I are going to Cinqua Terre in late September. We were leaning toward Gianni Franzi, based on guidebook descriptions. Then, we read negative reviews. Can you recommend a hotel for us? We'd love a quiet, quaint setting with a water view for a week-long stay. Has anyone stayed at Albergo Barbara?

I don't know what your budget is, but if you want the most heavenly place possible (but, a definite budget-blower), check out La Mala.

I'm not sure about the rooms, but the Gianni Franzi restaurant (across the street from the building with the rooms, right on the main piazza) was one of my best meals in Cinque Terre a couple weeks ago.

Assuming all rooms are in the same building, it's right on the main piazza near the harbor & beach. The views would probably be nice, and all the CT towns seemed to quiet down at night.

Hi Jeri,

I know that you said you want to stay in Vernazza. However you might like Riomaggiore. It's quieter than Vernazza (Vernazza is more crowded). We just got back from italy a few days ago and absolutely loved Riomaggiore. We stayed with Edi's rooms (www.wel.it/Vesignaedi) and had a huge balcony (with table & chairs) overlooking the ocean and part of the town. It was wonderful. We would stay in the same place again if we go back.

Good luck and have a great trip!

On the basis of various recommendations, we're staying at Albergo Barbara in mid-late September. I don't know about the quiet since it is on the square, but it does have water views and looks quaint and cozy for our desires. I did quite a bit of investigating before settling on this pensione.
