Does anyone know of any places in Vernazza that would have a double room in the $50-60 Euro price range? I only need a basic, clean room and do not mind sharing a bathroom. Would be staying in early April 2011.

I don't in Vernazza but the hostel in Manarola might be in that range. Its a bit of a walk from the train (its basically at the top of the town) but the guys are real nice and it is quite clean. A good spot to do laundry also mid trip. They also make pretty good reasonable dinners there (or did a couple years ago)

60 E is the standard rate in the CT for a basic room during that time of year. You will not have any trouble booking for your budgeted amount. Have a great time!

Thanks for your help, just wondering I was reading through RS Italy 2011, and it is mentioned that instead of reserving ahead, rooms are easily found by stopping in at a shop/bar and asking if anyone knows of rooms for rent, especially off season. We will be there April 6-8. Has anyone had experience doing so ?

I've never made a reservation in Vernazza and I've always gotten a room. The majority of places there don't advertise online. I think 65 euro is the cheapest I've ever gotten but I've only been during the May - September time frame.
