Vernazza Cinque Terre Mid September A/C?

We will be in the Cinque Terre Mid September. We have booked a room with a balcony sea view in a B & B. There is not air conditioning, should this be a concern?

We can move to Monterossa higher on the hill, with air conditioning,Balcony partial sea view. More money of course per night. $20.00 cheaper per night at the B & B.

Move or stay ? Please help ASAP I need to confirm one of these Hotel/B & B.

Appreciate any other tips as well.

Thank's Kelly

My 2 cents - we stayed twice in Corniglia the 3rd week of Sept...there was no AC in the room but we actually were quite comfortable - lovely views from the window and a nice breeze...hopefully because you are on the ocean the need for AC would be less...the nice thing is you can close up the shutters thru the day (shutters that I've seen on 99% of the windows) to block out the sun if it happens to get around to where your room is. I know the shutters on the windows at the place we stayed - you could close them, but there were little sections you could open to let the breeze in...

I've rented plenty of beach houses in Italy over my lifetime, generally in July and August, but I don't think I've ever had air conditioning except in rare occasions (and didn't use it). There is always a breeze in the evenings and at night it's definitely very cool (too cool) even in summer. I know because many times I've slept outdoors on the beach or next to my trusty motorbike or vespa, including in Riomaggiore. Open the windows and enjoy the view (and the zanzare).

Kelly,

I normally travel to the Cinque Terre in September and always stay in Monterosso. There have been many occasions when I've come back to the room in mid-afternoon after touring around the area, and have been thankful to have had A/C. That's also been a benefit when trying to sleep at night as even with the windows open, if there's no air movement it gets darn stuffy in the room!

Thank you all for the help. We booked with A/C in Monterossa! Didn't want to risk a hot stuffy room.
Grazie!

Kelly,

Note the correct spelling of Monterosso as you'll need to specify that when buying tickets. It may also be listed as Monterosso al Mare.
