We will be in Vernazza in the CT with our 3 year old daughter on her birthday in late August - any suggestions for a bakery in town to get her a mini birthday cake while we're in Vernazza? (Do they do birthday cakes in Italy?)
No particular suggestions, other than to ask your hotel or b&b for hints. Why not skip the cake and go with something Italian? Gelato with a candle in it? Tiramisu?
I would give Il Pirata a try. I'm sure that they can do something special for your daughter's birthday.
I second the recommendation of Il Pirata. The owners are great, and I bet they'll be willing to help you.
Thanks for the Il Parata recommendation as well as thinking outside the box w/an idea of tiramisu w/a candle.
Those guys at Il Parata would make a really big deal out of her birthday celebration--they just have that kind of personality.
BTW, it's some of the best food we ate on our trip.
There is a bakery with good pastries on the main street, about half way between the harbor and train station. Stop by and check, but doubt even they would have an american style cake as those aren't very common in Italy. If you want something special, definitely talk to the brothers at Il Pirata. They vary their pastries from day to day, and would probably make something that suits your needs if they know a day or two in advance.
