Vernazza Cinque Terra

We will be spending one night at Vernazza, Cinque Terra in September 2013. We are a little older and will have a pull along suitcase.
Any suggestions as to where to stay that is not HIGH up. We won't manage lugging it up lots and lots of steps. Any suggestions as to a nice place to stay please? Thanks so much.

Jenny, You may find it helpful to have a look at the Vernazza Travel Advisor webiste: http://savevernazza.com/traveladvisor/ They have all the lodgings, restaurants, etc. listed, so you can check the websites to determine which one best fits your criteria. Unfortunately, Vernazza has a abundance of lodgings with only stairs and no lifts. If lifts are a concern, you may be more comfortable staying in Monterosso. If you find a place in Vernazza that you like and only has one flight of stairs, you could ask the proprietor if they have someone that could carry your luggage to the room. Good luck and happy travels!

Jenny, you are an inspiration to me and many RS followers. Vernazza is a favorite of ours, and I just expressed to my wife, I hope our health or age doesn't limit us from such locations. As we travel I look around at all the possibilities that I would encounter if I were disabled or handicapped in any way. We plan to continue our travel even if confined to a wheelchair. Good Luck on your trip to Cinque Terre!

Hi Jim, It's the spirit of adventure that keeps us going. We are still in relatively good health. It isn't the stairs in the B &B that is a problem, it is really getting up to the actual B &B which is a little troubling! We might have to change our ideas with
regard to the type of luggage we take. Love your spirit. Keep up the traveling. So much to see and do!!!

Hi Ken, Thanks for the advice re trip advisor. We do use them and find them very helpful. It isn't really about the steps in the B & B, but must admit to not thinking about that side of it. It was the concern about lugging up lots of steps to get to the B & B. Hmmm Maybe we will have to re-think the type of luggage we take! I was hoping someone might have experienced
a B & B that is not situated in the "heavens". Thanks so much.

Jenny, Just to clarify, the link that I provided was NOT for Trip Advisor, but rather a list of all the lodgings in Vernazza on the "Save Vernazza" website. If you look at the various B&B's listed there, you may find one that doesn't have many stairs.

Thank you all for your replies and advice. The rooms suggested were fully booked and after doing some further research, we have now booked in at La Perle delle 5 Terra. It seems that there are steps where-ever one goes in Vernazza, so our luggage needs a re-think. Also the idea of leaving a piece of luggage at Pisa at an hotel to be collected en route back to the
next stop, is a good one. Happy travelling.
