Has anyone stayed at The Hermatige Over The Sea, also known as "L'Eremo sul Mare"? It's located between Vernazza and Corniglia and it looks great on the Internet.

We stayed there the 2nd week in October. I agree it looks lovely on the internet but I would not recommend it to anyone.
The hike to Eremo is 500 meters long, doesn't sound bad until you factor in that there are over 500 vertical steps up to get there also. Think of hiking to the top of St. Peters Basilica in 85 degree weather carrying all your luggage. IT SUCKS!
You want to eat you hike down, you want to rest you hike up, you want to eat you hike down...well you get the idea.
The place is filthy and the Kitchen stinks of cat pee. I'll admit - our shower was clean. There were cob webs in every corner.
The beds are glorified sofa beds - foam matress on wire frame.
People in 2 different groups (including myself) came down with some sort of horrible stomach virus within a day of each other.
I recommend staying in Monterosso.
