Vernazza accomodations

Does anyone know of a nice place to stay in Vernazza... a clean, nice room, good location, with a decent view? Hoping not to go above 180.00 Euros per night. Thanks.

Check out La Malà. Some of their rooms are less than 180 Euros, and others are more (they only have 4 rooms). We stayed recently and had one of each (rooms 20 and 26), and they were both incredible.

La Malà is a splurge, but, in our opinion, it was worth every bit. The rooms all have views - some of the sea side, others of the town, and, from Room 20, we caught a glimpse of both. But, all rooms have access to a stone terrace that literally hangs from the cliff, overlooking the sea.

Also, La Malà includes breakfast (at a bar on the town square), which is pretty much unheard of in Cinque Terre. And, they also provide a free, stocked (with water, juice and beer) mini-bar.

Amazing, amazing, amazing ... you could not regret staying there! We certainly can't wait to go back.

Hello Claudine. I was at Vernazza, two nights. There are a few good rooms (not in hotels) that are high above the sea, with a view of the sea. Those rooms are likely to be reserved several months in advance, or a year in advance. Some of those rooms are at locations that require walking uphill, a long distance, to go to it. I liked a room of Tonino Basso : He has four rooms in a remodeled apartment, located near the Post Office and the village parking lot. Each room has a good modern private bathroom. No view. Not far from the train station. Costs much less than 180 Euros per night. I was there in 2004. And Giuliano Basso has three fine rooms that share a large view balcony overlooking the whole town and his terraced gardens below. I was not there, but Americans who were there said they liked the room, and they liked Giuliano. Read about both of those places in the book "Rick Steves' ITALY".

We also like Toninno Basso's rooms. They are very clean, have air-conditioning, have a computer for your use in each room, and are not very far from the train station. If you call him when you get there, he will come help you to the rooms. The rooms are spotless and right beside a Steves' favorite, Il Pirata, a great and fun place to eat. He also books up months in advance. We were there in 2007. Our room was 100 euros. No view, but only 5 minutes walk to the water.

A big second for the Cozy Studio with Maria Cappalini and Giacommo. right on the main square by the sea wall, kitchen (fridge) and table, great restaurants right outside your front door and super friendly hosts...all for €80....

Connie:

the rooms for Gianni Franzi are listed as single, double and triple. If you remember (and maybe this will be common once I look at a lot of hotels) are they talking occupancy, size of the bed, number of rooms?

Thanks.

A vote for LaMala. The rooms are absolutely incredible - the views are breathtaking, the rooms are clean, modern and extremely well maintained. We stayed in Rooms 19 and 20 during our stay and each were below 180 Euro. It was an absolutely wonderful place to finish our Italian holiday.
