Verizon TravelPass - Italy

I used it last year, it worked seamlessly.

Travel Pass was not available when I was in Italy 2 years ago. I signed up for the monthly plan with 100 megabytes of data, 100 text messages, and I think 20 minutes of calling. About 95% of the time, I had my cellular service turned off. All of our hotels had wifi so I could send and receive emails and text messages thru iMessages on my I phone. Since I had the plan an was not using it, I frequently turned on the cellular service just to see if I could connect. I did this on our tour bus which did not have internet. I had coverage all thru Italy. We were traveling in the 17 Best of Italy tour so this applies to locations from Rome and above.

The travel pass is $10 a day. It is really dependent on how important it to you to have coverage outside of your hotel. For me that seems a little expensive. If you do the monthly plan, you could still turn on your cellular service periodically during the day to check messages and email without using much data.

There is a real good review on Trip Advisor of a person who used the Travel Pass. They had 5 phones, but only one connected using the Pass Pass. The other phones then used the "hot spot" feature to the connected phone and they were connected that way.

We used it on a trip through Italy last month. It worked very well. It is more expensive than just turning on the international plan, but ends up being cheaper in the long run if you will be using data outside of wifi hot spots (for instance, we used it a ton for our GPS/Google Maps as we were driving from Rome through Tuscany and into Florence).

I used it last week in Italy. It worked flawlessly.

We did not use it while touring Florence, Tuscany and Venice, although it was available. It seemed everywhere had WiFi, trains, restaurants, etc and of course our hotels. Even while driving we did not need it. We also used WhatsApp for calls and messages....loved it.
We just returned 5 days ago.
