Okay, so a few of you have said that Capital One credit cards can be used to purchase Trenitalia tickets online. I enrolled for a Cap One Visa card. I tried to register the Cap One card on the Verified By Visa (VBV) website. The VBV webpage says that the Cap One bank and Visa card are not a particpant of the VBV program. How did those of you who currently hold a Cap One credit card successfully register for the VBV program?
I couldn't register my Cap One card because Cap One does not participate in either the "Verified By Visa" or the "MasterCard SecureCode" programs. I was not able to purchase via the website, but my B&B in Venice took my credit card details and purchased my train tickets with it.
Tim - I searched a list of participating institutions on the SecureCode website. Cap One's Mastercard is enrolled on that program. So if you hold a Cap One MC, you should be able to buy the Trenitalia tickets.
Sharon - the place you found is talking about Capital One MasterCard "DEBIT" cards...not credit cards. I've already been down that path attempting to register my Cap One Mastercard Credit Card and it won't work.
Sharon, if Cap One is a Master Card and you are trying to register it with Verified by Visa, it's no wonder it won't work. Verified by Visa is only for Visa cards.
Larry - You clearly didn't read my original post thoroughly. No where in my original post dated 4/13 did I say that I owned a Cap One Mastercard. I stated in my original message that I currently own a Cap One Visa card and I tried to register it (VISA)on VBV program. I was responding to Tim on 4/14 about his Cap One Mastercard. That's how the Mastercard issue came up.
Tim - Okay, I got what you meant with the Cap One (Debit) Mastercard. I think I'll just close this chapter and get my hotel to buy the Trenitalia tickets for me.
