Veranda to Florence to Rome

Hi, we will be traveling from Vernazza to Rome. I was told there is a high speed train from Florence to Rome. We would like to try that, & would appreciate any advice on getting first from Vernazza to Florence, then catch the high speed train to Rome. Thanks!

I think you have to take the local train from Vernazza to La Spiza and the get a train to Florence. Check out the Trenitalia site for train times and costs. Note- if a cost isn't listed for a train, it tends to be less than the lowest cost train for that route.

From Vernazza to Rome, the best option is a train along the coastal route. I don't see a reason to go to Florence, which will require 3 trains (Vernazza to La Spezia, then La Spezia to Pisa, and lastly Pisa to Florence), to get a train to Rome. That is an unneeded and costly detour.
Changing trains is a hassle, especially with luggage. You can minimize train changes by taking the coastal route (2 trains only):
1-Vernazza to La Spezia
2-La Spezia to Rome
You can find all options here:
www.trenitalia.com
Enter:
From .VERNAZZA
To: ROMA TERMINI
use a date in the next 7 days, enter 01 under time to have all options since early morning.

TJ,

Unless there's some reason you need to go to Florence between Vernazza and Rome, the solution that Roberto suggested is the easiest and most direct. There are a few direct trains between La Spezia Centrale and Roma Termini every day, and numerous others which have one or more changes. Take the Regionale train from Vernazza to La Spezia, and then connect with the high speed train to Rome.

You might want to edit the title of this Thread as I almost didn't look at it as I'm not familiar with "Veranda". Correct spelling is important, especially when buying train tickets.
