VeniceConnected Transportaion Pass

We're thinking of buying a 36 hr vaporreto pass beginning on March 16 on line through Venice Connected. Does anyone know when the pass will become active? Our plane arrives at 2pm and we would pick up the pass at the Hellovenezia office at the airport probably before 3pm. Does the 36 hrs start when the pass is first activated? I've emailed Venice Connected but have had no reply and we need to order more than 7 days in advance. Any info would be appreciated.

It's a great idea to buy ahead. You take the "PNR" they email to you and present it at the Hello Venezia kiosk. The vaporetto pass duration starts when you swipe it the first time as you board a vaporetto. When it is expried, it no longer works. Very nice!

I'm not sure that pass makes sense. There's good information here: http://europeforvisitors.com/venice/articles/venice-connected.htm Their advice: Unless you want to plan every detail of your visit ahead of timeor unless you have a desperate need to jump to the head of the line at public WCsyou'll find it easier to simply buy a 12-hour to 7-day "Tourist Travel Card" from any ACTV ticket office, vaporetto ticket booth, or HelloVenezia office.

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies! We plan to use the pass to get from P.Roma to our hotel and then to do the RS tour of the Grand Canal, both in the day and night. Since we're arriving in the afternoon and we have to take a vaporreto to get to the hotel we figured we'd do the Grand Canal tours in the first 36 hrs and get maximum benefit of the pass. We plan to do walking at our own pace the rest of the time as we will be in Venice for five days. So thanks again!

carol - consider the 72 hour pass, it's only 7.50 euro more for twice as long if bought online. It will give you more flexibility. Just one vaporetto ride anytime in your stay after the 36 hour pass expires will be 6.50 euro.

Michael, I think the Tourist Travel Card is the same as the pass I'm talking about but it's discounted if you buy on line in advance. Ron, we had thought about more hours and are still not sure. We enjoy walking and had planned to visit many of the churches, etc. just walking through the back streets and enjoying the city. Have to decide soon as the website says you need to buy more than 7 days in advance. Thanks again, for all your help!

The vaporetto pass is worthwhile. You won't regret it. Sometimes you will walk and walk and walk and then say, hey, let's ride back. Nice to have the hop-on/hop-off privilege and very worthwhile if you go to Murano or Burano! Do not buy the toilet card, WIFI access. We did and ended up using neither. WIFI was in the B&B and teh QCs accepting the toilet cards were not where we needed them. Bought a caffe and used the bar toilet instead! The Museum Pass serves a look. I think it is the ONLY way to get into the Doge's Palace, so if that is on your list, buy the Museum Card, or I think there is a San Marco card, too. Buy whichever covers the places you might actually visit.

Thanks for the info - we plan to buy the museum pass but only when we get there. Don't want to be tied down by dates or times.
