Whether a restaurant or a wine bar, where in Venice have you gone to sample cicchetti that was particulary memorable? And, if you remember the name, what area (sestiere) was it in?
To clarify, I know that Rick has listed some in his Venice guide, but I want to hear from travelers on the helpline if they have had a particularly memorable experience-whether or not Rick had recommended the bar/restaurant.
I don't know if this would be helpful or not but here's a link to an article from Slow Travel regarding cicheti & some suggestions for some good places to find it in Venice.
Laurie,
A la Valigia at calle dei Fabbri No. 4697 is my favorite.
It's where the locals gather. The plates at the front when you walk in are amazing.
Two places for cicchetti that I particularly enjoyed were Ca D'Oro (Alla Verdova) on Calle del Pistor just off Strada Nova in Cannareggio, and Cantinone Gia Schiava behind the Accademia Museum in Dorsoduro (can't recall the street name, but it is along a canal opposite the gondola repair shop). Both were listed in other guidebooks, if not Rick Steves, and be sure to try the creamy cod spread and polpetti (meatballs).
