I’m going to be leaving Venice via the Santa Lucia train station, heading in the direction of Bologna. Is it possible to have a view of Venice as we are en route if I were sitting on the left-hand side of the train?
Not really. The train is heading away from Venice, and the causeway is 4 km long, just to get to Mestre.
no, it is directly behind you and after you turn left at Mestre you are inland.
If you sit on the right, you can get a very quick glimpse of the end of the Canareggio Canal as you pass it, but blink….and you’ll miss it.
You can see the industrial port of Porto Marghera. If you want o see wha it la like yo can use Google streetView on the Liberty Bridge expressway which runs along the rail tracks.
