Venice view from an Island

We went for the Rome Venice class today and the instructor told about an island from where we get a great view of the Venice island (entire venice) I remember he said to climb a tower to get that view. And the cost of climbing the tower is 3.50 EUR. Which island is this? Thanks

Have to agree with Nigel again - it must be S.Giorgio Maggiori. There's an elevator to the tower and you have a great view of Venice. Also be sure to visit the church as well.

Sowmya Have you thought of asking the instructor who may well know? There are several towers. Without seeing the angle of the photo it is difficult to be sure. San Georgio is the most likely candidate, but you don't climb - there's a lift. The tower at San Marco is another, but same, and its more expensive. BTW - there is not a Venice island. All of Venice is hundreds of islands - hence the bridges. There's a lighthouse on Murano - maybe there?

I agree with Nigel that it's probably the San Giorgio church bell tower. You take an elevator to the top and then you have nice views over the grand canal towards St. Mark's Square. The cost is around 3 euros so that's probably the tower that your instructor was referring to. To my knowledge the only other tower that you can ascend is the Campanile in St. Mark's Square.

Sowmya, time to pay attention to the lectures. You remembered everything except the name of the island. Take a pen & notebook with you next time.
