I'm not seeing a way to get from the Salute stop to San Marco in time for the first (~3:40 AM) boat to the airport. Am I missing something? I'm thinking I'm going to need to stay somewhere on the San Marco side for my last night, in order to make it to the airport for a 6:40 flight. Any suggestions?
I'm assuming that your 6:40 flight is to another European city, right? In that case, you don't need to be there until about 5:30. The Marco Polo airport is pretty small and very simply laid out. Have you asked your hotel what they recommend?
I'm staying at a convent, so that doesn't work. (Stayed there before... no English) I'm thinking I'll need to check out the day before and stay at a hotel near San Marco the last night. Hoping to avoid that.
We've stayed at the Hotel Messner which is at the Salute vaporetto stop. Only the No 1 vaporetto and the Vaporetto dell'Arte stop at this stop. Even the night vaporetto does not stop at Salute according to the www.actv.it website. The first No 1 vaporetto from Lido to the Piazzale Roma stops at Salute at 4:38. It takes 36 minutes to get to the Piazzale Roma where you could catch the airport buses. Unfortunately, by this time, the first two buses have departed (4:38 and 5:00). You might have to take a taxi from the Piazzale Roma. The next bus departs at 5:40 and arrives at the airport about 6:05. You can stay on the San Marco side and catch the 3:40 night vaporetto and make it to the Piazzale Roma in time for the ACTV 4:38 departure. The one alternative that will surely work if you stay in Dorsoduro is the infamous water taxi. Your hotel can arrange this to be there at anytime you desire. Cost is about 100Euro for up to 8 people with luggage.
