Venice Vaporetto water pass plus Vaporetto Dell'Arte?

Hi , We will be in Venice this coming June for 3 Full days ( not including the half days on day of arrival and day of departure). We will be staying in San Marco area . I am not sure if We should buy a Vaporetto pass and I read somewhere about upgrading to additional 10 € for a Vaporetto del Arte. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sally,
I am not familiar with the Vaporetto dell'Arte. but I think the regular vaporetto pass is always worthwhile. As one trip costs €7.00, you will hesitate to use a vaporetto without a pass. Just getting form the train station to your lodging and back at the end of your trip would be €14.00! a 72-hour pass is €35.00, as I recall. If you go to the islands (Murano, Burano, Torcello) the pass more than pays for itself. Plus hopping on when your feet need a rest is so convenient when you have a pass.

Thanks Laurel. We will buy the 72 hours Vaporetto . I read sometime ago that for an additional €10 the Vaporetto dell Arte is less crowded and more comfortable but I will need to check again as I didn't see it being mentioned anymore.

Found under guidebook updates - Italy - Venice: The Vaporetto dell’Arte service on the Grand Canal is no longer running.

I am just now finishing the final hours of a 72-hour vaporetto pass in Venice, due to fly home in the morning. It is very worth it, especially if you make a trip to Murano/Burano/Torcello, as I did today. You should be aware, though, that when you are within the central city of Venice, the vaporettos are often very crowded and quite slow. When you are without your baggage, it is often easier and faster just to walk. Also, being on an overcrowded vaporetto is not generally a romantic or very relaxing journey.

You're on the right track with that updated info. In general, the most newsworthy items that we find while updating guidebooks are posted in the Explore Europe section; under a specific country or city, follow the "Plan" link.

It's a real shame because the VDA was a very appealing alternative to the packed vaporetti.
