Venice Vaporetto Hours of Operation

What time do vaporettos start and stop running? We are planning on exploring the islands in the lagoon and would like to stay as late as we could. Also, we have an early flight out of Venice and need to get to the airport by 6 AM. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Garret - The Vaporettos - ACTV System varies frequently in Venice so it is always better to check when you are there.
As for going to The Airport - I would strongly suggest your Hotel scheduling a water taxi for you because of the early hour and the need to be there on time. It will cost about $110.00 U.S. but you will have no problems PLUS it's a fun ride.

Ciao, Greg

Hi Garret

The Vaporettos run all night. Last April we had an early flight out of Venice and had the same problem we thought. However, we stayed in the Rialto Bridge area and saved the high cost of a water taxi. There is a night vaporetto service that I believe we caught about 4:30 am to get to Piazza Roma I believe it is called. There is a bus that leaves around 5:00 am for the trip to the airport. We were there in plenty of time to check in, go through security and have breakfast. Cost was about 6 euros for the vaporetto and bus.

Take Greg's response with an enormous grain of salt.

When you read Greg's advice on this board, realize that he thinks nothing of spending $150 for transit when you can spend less than $10.

Greg's lucky! Money means nothing to him.

Buses run regularly from Piazzale Roma to the airport, beginning at 5 am. The trip takes 20 minutes. The service is reliable. The tourist information offices even have schedules telling you which bus departures are best for which flights. Here's a link to the bus website.

The bus costs about $5. Advice to spend 20 times that for a water taxi is appallingly bad.

Garret, the vaporettos run all during the night albeit not as frequently as during the day.
