Venice Vaporetti routes

In looking at the ACTV route maps it appears that the route numbers have changed? Is this correct?

I believe that is correct. I think it is the number 82 line that had its number changed.

From veniceforvisitors.com: The No. 82 express line is now the No. 2, and the old No. 3 summer express is gone, having been replaced by a No. 3 route for Venice residents only that will be discontinued after November, 2008.

Boy, I wish I'd had the foresight to check the ACTV Routes before going to Venice! What I have just read here explains why I could never find a #82 boat! Be careful with the #2, however, because we were trying to get to St. Lucia in a bit of a hurry to catch a train, and we hopped on the #2 at San Zaccaria thinking it would take us directly to St. L. Well, it did take us to St. L eventually, by way of Zattere, so we ended up missing our train.

Is it possible that the #2 goes quickily down the Grand Canal, but that there is a different number which goes quickly in the other direction UP the canal? We could never figure it out! It sounds as if you're on the right track if you're looking at schedules in advance.
