My husband and I will be in Venice for 3 days in October. We'll be dropping a car off at the airport before heading to our AirBnB in Venice. Couple questions: should I prebook a travel pass which includes a roundtrip[ vaporetta from airport to Venice plus additional vaporettas we may need in the 3 days? Also interested in a pass that skips the line for just the Doge Palace and St. Mark's Basilica, and possibly trip out to Murano and Burano. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
The vaporetto does not go to the airport, altho a vaporetto pass is a money saver, and takes you out to Murano and Burano. .Theres no reason to buy this in advance. I'll attach a link detailing the transportation options.
Have a great trip!

Water transport in Venice.
1. Gondolas. Only for pleasure, not for transport. 80 euro for half an hour for the boat, more for evenings.
2. Traghetto – big gondolas, two oarsmen, about ten passengers, for crossing the Grand Canal. Found at Rialto, San Toma and a couple of other places. Cost 2 euro per trip, can save a heap of walking.
3. Water taxis, which are like a floating limo, costs to match.
4. Vaporettos - ACTV. Are waterbuses, operate on a bunch of routes. Get the app Chebateo for routes and schedules. Vaps do not service the airport. Vaps are not water taxis.
5. Alilaguna ferries, service the airport, run from Marco Polo via a bunch of stops to the main part of Venice, Murano and Lido.
There's no need to pre purchase a vaporetto pass. You can buy it on arrival. However there are no vaporetti that go to Venice from the airport. There are private water taxis. And there is the Alilaguuna water bus. Neither are covered by the vaporetto pass, but require a separate purchase at the airport. You can find more info on the airport website.
You can also reach Venice by land taxi to Piazzale Roma. There is also the ATVO shuttle bus to P. Roma. And finally you can buy a combined bus ticket and vaporetto pass for use on the ACTV bus to P Roma. For 3 days you would want a 72 hour vaporetto pass. Remember to always tap in and validate the pass every time before boarding the vaporetto.
The vaporetto lines include routes that go to Murano and Burano.
Buy advance tickets for the Doges Palace and St Mark's at their official websites.
Current fare for a single vaporetto ride is 9.50 euros. Vaporetto passes cost:
25 euros for 24 hours
35 euros for 48 hours
45 euros for 72 hours
65 euros for 168 hours (7 days)
A trip out to Murano and Burano would require 3 vaporetto tickets (28.50 euros) if you don't have a pass).
Costs are such that it is worth giving some thought to how many trips you may need or want to take. The location of your AirBnb may be a factor.
Thank you all for the useful information! Much appreciated!

Hang on to your St. Mark's Basilica ticket when you visit the north lagoon islands because it also gives you free entry to Torcello’s cathedral. And since Torcello is just a 5-minute vaporetto ride from Burano, definitely don't skip it.
Thank you, Dan! We'll certainly hold on to our ticket!
