Venice Transportation from St.Mark’s area to Ristorante Algiubagio, Cannaregio

We are staying in a hotel near Saint Mark’s and have dinner reservations for the terrace at Algiubagio, which is listed as a mile away near Fondamente Nove. Could you please recommend the best way to get there as safely and conveniently as possible at night. Is a vaporetto the best idea? Just walking?
Thank you.

Just walking. It is an 18-20 minute walk and very safe and straightforward. A vaporetto would take much longer. Nice place for dinner on a summer evening!

Walking is certainly an option - walking around Venice is one of my favorite things to do there - but whether you want to have a 20 minute walk before and after dinner is up to you. Google maps does a good job of laying out walking routes in Venice that plot actual bridges if you want to use that. My only warning would be that sometimes in tight alley ways without good view of the sky all GPS devices struggle some with slower updates.

The restaurant is very near the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop and slightly down the waterfront is the Ospedale stop are the stop for many lines that also stop in San Marco and San Zaccharia. For reference is you have gone from San Marco to head for Murano and Burano this the same operation. If you want to use the vaporetto either way or both I'd recommend having a day pass or tickets because I can't guarantee you'll be able to buy tickets at night on the F.te Nove side.

From SM/SZ the 4.1 goes to F.te Nova and the 4.2 runs the exact same route in the reverse direction. These are the easiest and most direct routes but there are others like the 5.1 and 5.2 as well since the San Marco area is such a popular stop.

Here is a good clickable map of routes and stops: https://www.visit-venice-italy.com/water-bus-venice-line-41.html

So either way is up to you. I think walking is more interesting and probably faster - assuming you don't get lost - but getting to see the city at night from the water is never a bad thing.

Venice is amazing, enjoy,

Your restaurant is a one minute walk to Calle Varisco, the narrowest street in Venice.

Something we have found indispensable over a bunch of visits to Venice.
