The advantage of many hotels in Venice is that somewhere in their web page they give clear directions on how to find them.

For this hotel it is pretty straightforward. If you can follow these directions then you can skip the taxi - if you want to. Since you will probably want a vaporetto pass for the duration of your stay (how long?) it won't cost any extra.

So here goes -

You want to click the second button on their webpage "Where We Are" and if you click here it will take you there:= http://www.hotelcolombina.com/where-we-are

Here's what it says about arriving on a cruise ship:==

By Ship
To reach us from the Cruise Terminal (normally used by cruise operators such as: MSC, Costa, Carnival, P & O, Princess, Cunard, Aida, etc.) you can either take a private water taxi (yellow band on its sides, officially authorized) from the nearby floating dock which will directly take you, in about 15-20 minutes, to the private jetty of the hotel, or walk to the nearby automated monorailtrain station (so called "People Mover"), take it (3 minutes trip), reach Piazzale Roma square and from there takethe ACTV water bus line 2 (summer season only) or line 1 (all year) that will get you in about 35 minutes to “San Marco - Vallaresso” boat stop / pier.

Personally if this is your first visit to Venice (and navigation) just take a water taxi. Zipping off in a private taxi and being delivered directly to your hotel's own water taxi door is THE way to begin your stay there. Of course I'm sure you could probably find it on your own - it will be MUCH more enjoyable for you if you just spend the money and travel leisurely (along with your luggage) to your hotel. Getting lost in Venice is a pleasure. Getting lost trying to find your hotel while dragging luggage is not.

You don't have to get your hotel to provide a taxi because there will be plenty of them waiting for customers at the cruise port.
