I have to meet a friend at Santa Lucia train station in Venice, Italy. We need an EXACT
location such as a statue, etc., as she does not have a cell phone.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
Tell her you'll meet her on the front steps. This video clips shows what that means: Santa Lucia train station front steps
More specifically, say you will be standing by the street lamp at the base of the steps. ( You see them in the video, traditional Venetian street lamps with three globes). There are two right near the base of the steps; I use the one to the right (as you face the canal, coming down the steps) as most people leaving the station veer left toward the vaporetto dock. To the right it is not at all crowded. This worked very well for a meeting place when we were there for a month last fall.
Just don't wait directly under the street lamp if there are pigeons on them. For that matter, don't sit on a bench in a square if it is under a tree frequented by pigeons. You have been warned.
Yep. The middle of the staircase in front of the station. It's just a few steps and it's not that wide. If it rains tell your friend to go under the roof closer to the entrance inside the station.
Thank you all so much. This is very helpful. Grazie.
I'm there now. In the main lobby as you approach the wall of glass windows and doors leading out onto the sidewalk facing the grand canal, Italo (the new private railway that competes with Trenitalia) has installed its own ONE free standing ticket kiosk (automatic ticket machine). It's less than 6' square. It's fastened to the floor right in the middle in plain sight. There's only one of them; not a whole bank of 'em like Trenitalia's. It's hard for me to imagine anyone could miss it.
Thanks for the info.
