Venice to Venice Marco Polo Airport for early flight

Before I book my Ryan Air flight from Venice to London, I just want to confirm that I won't have a problem getting from Venice to Marco Polo airport for a 9:50am flight? Anyone know the best way to get from point A to point B....via Boats/buses/trains etc...

First, I'm surprised that Ryan Air now flies out of Marco Polo as well as nearby Treviso (I looked it up). Second, your 9:50am flight is not that early. We normally see travelers with 7:00am flights. For the answer to your question, two different bus lines begin their runs from the Piazzale Roma bus station to Marco Polo about 5:00am. The two bus lines are ACTV (www.actv.it) and ATVO (www.atvo.it). The trip takes a tad over 20 minutes and the fare is about 3E. You have plenty of time to take the vaporetto to the Piazzale Roma stop and take the bus to the airport.

It really kind of depends on where your hotel is. You may do better taking the Alilaguna to the airport. That starts running early. Look at your hotel web page. It probably has instructions on getting there from the train station or airport. And back out. Of course the 3rd option is a water taxi. Have a great trip.

Thanks for the great information; now I can book the flight. I'm renting an apartment right by the Rialto Bridge.

FYI, The Venice-Treviso airport will be closed from June 1 - September or so; hence the change in airports for Ryan Air.

The Alilaguna would be an unecessary expense. You have plenty of time to catch a bus from the Piazzale Roma.

My vote? Water taxi. The only way we'll travel around Venice when we return. Took the alilaguna boat after dropping off rental car and had quite the experience. Mind you, I get really bad motion sickness. The water taxi from our rental apartment straight to the airport at 5AM was amazing. Watched the sun rise - it really was a wonderful thing to do on the final day of our vacation.

We've been to Venice often - perhaps too often - so when we caught the early Easyjet flight home to Rome, we walked to Piazzale Roma and jumped on the bus for about €2.80 each. It takes about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic. If it's your first time in Venice, you might want to take the ALIGUNA Water Bus, or a more expensive water taxi. For us, it's just about getting to the airport! As said, you'll have no problem making a 09:50 flight. It's the flights at 06:30 from VCE that you really have to plan for!

Take the arancio line Alilaguna. It's 13 euro day of and cheaper in advance. Picks you up on the St Mark's side of Rialto. It may be ~10 euros more than the bus alone, but you get to depart Venice over water, which is pretty cool (but imagine how cool arriving was :)) and is much cheaper than a taxi.

I agree with Lauren. We took the water taxi and I loved it. Saw the sunrise and kids and dads waiting for the for the water bus. We saw a UPS boat and the city just waking up. It was one of the highlights of our trip for me. It was expensive, but for me it was worth it.

No worries! It's very easy to take the bus from Piazzale Roma to the airport. Depending on where your hotel is located you can take water bus to Piazzale Roma or if not far just walk. Remember - you will need to check in at least 2-hours early so will want to get an early start. I would recommend grabbing a bus around 6:00am - 6:30am so you get to the airport with plenty of time to spare.

Vaporetto + land bus = 6.50 + 3 = 9.50 euro Alilaguna per above = 13 euro
Water taxi = ~ 100 euro I would take the Alilaguna: much cheaper than a water taxi; a lot less hassle than a vaporetto plus bus for just a few more euro.
