venice to sicily

We are planning a 2 week trip to Italy. Planning on flying into Venice and out of Sicily. Is this doable or too much travel. Would like to fit in the Cinque Terre, Sienna, etc. Thanks!

A lot depends on how much time you may want to spend in cities like Florence and Rome or possibly the Amalfi coast all of which you did not mention. If you don't plan on visiting these cities or areas, you've got some time to visit other areas. Note that the CT slightly out of the way for your mostly north/south journey. Train runs to the CT from Venice will take about 6.0hrs and will require a train change in either Milan or Florence.

I agree, it does depend on how much time you have and what else you want to see. We used Europe by Air to book a flight from Venice to Sicily and then from Sicily to Pisa The flight was pleasant, short and economical. To take the train or drive from Venice or Cinque Terre to Sicily will take forever. The closest airport to CT is in Pisa or Genoa.

we booked recently with airone for our venice to naples leg, rather than taking the long train ride. Alitalia flies the route also. Depends on desired departure and arrival times.

Don't plan to much as you want to spend time in each city or town. If you fit in to much, you are going to be exhausted and very rushed to see things. You need at least 2 days in Florence and 3 days in Rome.

Aviano. Probably around an hour away from Venice. Naples and Sicily are way south.
