Venice to Pisa

What is the best route to go from Venice to Pisa?

The easiest way is to take the train. You'll take a Eurostar from Venice Santa Lucia to Florence and then switch to a regional train to Pisa. Should take about 3.5 hours or so. If you are driving, ( and if these are your stops there's not a good reason to do so) then you would follow the same basic route. Venice to Bologna then on to Florence and then west to Lucca and Pisa. This would be the fastest route IMO.

Thanks. We will be taking the train. So I am clear, we would go to the Santa Lucia (the main station??) in Venice to Florence. We would then have to transfer in Florence to Pisa (does anyone know the name of the train station in Pisa?).

You'll buy the trip all at once in Venice or prior to that if you want. There is only one train station in Venice proper, Santa Lucia. It is across the Grand Canal from Piazzale Roma. There are two train stations in Pisa is Pisa Centrale is the main station and Pisa San Rossore is a smaller one. there is also a train station at the airport. The eurostar tickets to Florence will have the seat reservations with them . The regional tickets from Florence to Pisa will need to be validated in one of the many validation machines at the Florence station. Those tickets are usuable when issued for a longer time and then need to be stamped to start your train journey and the expiration ticker on the ticket. The fines are stiff if you get caught on the regional trains without having your ticket validated. the assumption is that you trying to beat the system and get several rides from one ticket.
