Venice to Padua - Village Tour

Presently in Venice, will soon transport to Padua for the Village Tour. Any major differences if one takes the train or bus? Doubtless the cost and time differ somewhat - any other considerations? Thank you.

Interesting. I did this tour and this trip from Venice to Padua 10 years ago. Actually, I had already checked in the Padua hotel a day in advance, took the train to Venice and then returned by bus. 10 years ago - things most likely are different now. I do love arriving in Venice via train.

I took the bus back to Padua after reading an article describing the superiority of the scenery available vs from the train. I did not see that, instead, I recall a lot of warehouses. The bus, at the time, was pretty old and looked to be a commuter bus. I would not say anything along the way proved worth any price savings - I don't really recall the relative costs. The train is faster and lands at the train station which houses (or housed) a nice supermarket which sometimes comes in handy when arriving in a new location, especially nice later in the day or on weekends when some markets will be closed.

I have some really fond memories of that tour, but the bus to Padua is not really one of them.

The bus to Padua goes to the bus station, which is next to the train station. If you take the train, you will be close to the tram stop that takes you into central Padua where your hotel is likely to be, plus there is a tourist info office in the train station where you can buy tram tickets.

Coincidentally, when we went 10 years ago (not on the tour), we took the bus because we arrived at Venice airport. The hotel we staid at, the Fagiano, was one of the hotels Rick Steves uses for the Village Italy tour, and the group was there. Humorous that the Rick Steves guide appeared to be training the hotel check-in clerk. The tram stops about a block from the hotel.
