There are four of us in our party and we want to travel from Venice to Ljubjana. Which is the most efficient mode if transportation?
GoOpti, DRD, FlixBus. Or train via Trieste. (Assuming trains have started up again between Trieste and Ljubljana, were supposed to this month.)
We used GoOpti and it worked really well for us. Easy to set up, fair prices and nice van for transport.
Set to take a shared ride with GoOpti from Venice (Piazzale Roma) to Ljubljana train station in a couple months. Chose this mode of transportation after reading positive reviews on this Forum.
I just had a great experience with GoOpti from my hotel in Ljubljana to Venice. The van stopped at both Marco Polo airport and Piazzale Roma in Venice. I found the website easy to navigate, the van comfortable, with safe driver. There was one 15 minute bathroom break and the ride between my hotel and the airport altogether was almost exactly 3 hours.
Seat61 says, "The new twice-daily Trieste-Ljubljana train due to start on 10 June has hit a few problems and is now likely to start in September." So there's still a bus serving that route, reflected on DB train schedules.
There are still three(?) direct trains a day from Villa Opicina to Ljubljana, the same ones that have already been operating. The historic tram to Villa Opicina not too far from the center of Trieste may still not be running but there is a bus - gets you fairly close (I looked at this option, didn't use it). With a lot of luggage a taxi from Trieste might be easier. I took FlixBus last year from Ljubljana to Trieste - and I suspect it and other buses may not show up on the Bahn schedules.
