Venice to Florence - travel assistance

Looking to plan taking the train from Venice to Florence. However, not sure how long of a boat ride is it from Venice to the train station so I can plan which train time to book. Does anyone know how long it takes to go from Venice boat docs to the Venice train station? Looking to possibly take the 9:30 train into Florence but not sure just how early we would need to leave our Venice hotel that morning to get to the boat doc and time to get to train station. Any feedback most appreciated!! Thank you

Venezia Santa Lucia is on the island, so it could be walking distance from your hotel. So what hotel and where?

Venezia Santa Lucia station is on the Grand Canal (Venice's "main street"), at the opposite end to St. Marks' Square. Walking out the front of the station and seeing the Grand Canal in front of you is one of the most impressive entrances to a city I know of.

When riding the Number 1 vaporetti from the San Marco stop, it took about 45 minutes. It makes something like 14 stops. Be safe and count on an hour. The boat stop is directly in front of the train station.

You still have not told us what hotel or apartment location you are at. It would certainly help us get you a good answer.

Walk out of the hotel and down the street to the Riva degli Schiavoni where the vaporetto docks are. Hang a left over the bridge and go to the San Zaccaria (Jolanda) dock and board either the 4.2 or 5.2 boat. The 4.2 goes at 13, 33, & 53 past the hour and takes 32 minutes to the station. The 5.2 goes at 7, 27, & 47 past the hour and takes 28 minutes. These routes go around south of the island avoiding the Grand Canal.

If you want faster, you can spring for a water taxi for 75 EUR and get you there in 15 to 20 minutes. Docking and getting in and out of the boats is what takes the most time.
