Kavita,
The fastest way to travel from Venice to Florence is via the ICE or EuroStar Italia trains. You won't need to worry about sleeping, as the trip is only a few hours.
You'll be travelling from Venezia S.L. to Firenze S.M.N. stations.
Happy travels!
Thanks so much :-)
Hi Ken,
I will have eurail pass. Does it work for ICE train?
I think travelling by Eurostar will be expensive.
Thanks
For cost comparisons if you decide not to use a day of your rail pass, the '08 price of a 2nd class Venezia-Firenze Eurostar ticket was only €25. With the Amica discount, the cost would have been even less. The length of the journey is only 3 or so hours.
If you use your railpass for the Eurostar train, they will charge you an extra 18Euro fee. Big surprise for railpass holders in Italy. It's 3Euro for the ICPlus trains and for the slower regional trains, you can just hop on.
The current point-to-point fare for 2nd class on the Eurostar from Venice to Florence is 32.30Euro. It's a 2hr-40min ride. You can save money by traveling on the ICPlus or regional trains which, although fast, make more stops and thus take longer.
This is a follow up to Kavita's question. We want to stop in Padua on our way to Florence, so if we buy a Venice to Florence train ticket, can we get off at Padua and use the same ticket to continue our journey to Florence ? Thanks !
