Venice Stays and Flying in to Florence?

Hi all! I have two questions:

  1. Any good recommendations of where to stay while staying in Venice? Either neighborhoods or specific housing? I'm hoping for somewhere quiet and away from too much tourist traffic while staying close enough to walk to the city center in about 20 minutes.

  2. We are going to stay in an agriturismo in the hills of Tuscany (have not decided which one yet). Would you recommend flying in to Florence and renting a car there? Would we be able to drop our car off in Venice then and fly out from there? Thanks so much!!

Pensione Guerrato is very close to the Rialto Bridge, but is far enough away to not have much noise or foot traffic. Would suggest flying into Venice and back from Florence. Much easier that way, and Venice is a great place to get over any jet lag.

We love the Cannaregio area of Venice, on the quiet back canals, yet 10-15 minute walk to the vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal , or ten minute walk from the Madonna d'Orta stop.
You can take sunset pix without anyone else in the frame, no crowds.
Our favorite is Hotel Ai Mori d'Oriente- great service, good breakfast, and happy hours outside canal side.
