Venice Stay

Im considering booking a stay at Istituto San Guiseppe via monastery stays. It's directly on a small canal and I see info on gondolas on the canal but don't see anything regarding other transportation. I'm hoping I can arrange a private shuttle/taxi from the airport to the Istituto. Does anyone know?

Thx so much Forum friends!

Their website gives info on travel by vaporetto, where you would get off at the Rialto stop and walk from there. Travel by Alilaguna would be the same stop. The canals appear to be the Rio della Fava, connecting to the Rio de San Zulian, with a dock on either side of the Ponte della Guerra bridge. You could email the Instituto and ask if water taxis use either of those docks.

Just a reminder that water taxis will be +€100 from the airport. If budget matters, take the Alilaguna (water bus) from airport to the closest dock. Or take the land bus to P. Roma then a vaporetto to the closest dock, either way you’ll walk from the dock to the monastery or any hotel you choose.

Great place to stay ! We took the water taxi last visit. it got us within 2 short blocks of the Istituto. I think it should have been possible to get us right to the front door. You might see if they can send instructions for the taxi to get you right to thr door.

You can take a vaporetto to either Rialto or one of the San Marco stops and have a not too long walk to it, but you need a good map !

Thanks everyone for your responses to my question regarding transportation to Istituto San Giuseppe in Venice. It sounds like I can get a water taxi close or possibly even to the Istituto.

Next question: information on the water taxis states they take only 1 bag per person. I’ll probably have two bags. Does anyone know if that would be a problem or just go for it!

No shame here folks, by the time I go home, I’ll be down to one bag. It’s just the way it is!

Thx!!

I think that a water taxi might not get very close to the Instituto San G. However it is a walk of maybe 200 metres from the San Marco or Valoresso vaporetto stops.

A water taxi will be about 150 euro, taking the Alilaguna ferry service is about 30 euro.

Do buy a paper map at the airport. Phone navigation in Venice can be most frustrating.

Where did you see water taxis only allow 1 bag?

If it’s a private taxi you are not limited

Here is the official site
https://www.motoscafivenezia.com/en/

Read ”Useful Information” section
(Water taxis can hold up to 12 suitcases)

You can also book a shared water taxi at the airport
I don’t believe you are limited to 1 bag there either

Be sure you understand the various modes of transportation in Venice
They are all distinctly different
Aussie’s post in above link has descriptions of each
