Venice sightseeing: buying advance tickets online

I’ll be in Venice next month, from May 14-18, 2019.
A few questions:

  1. Accademia - and - Peggy Guggenheim Collection: Is it recommended to buy online tickets/reserve day and time in advance before leaving the U.S. in order to avoid long ticket-buying lines for these 2 places? I would prefer to just show up when I want to, and not be locked into a pre-arranged day/time - BUT - I also definitely want to avoid having to wait in long ticket-buying lines.

  2. I notice that advance/online ticket-buying from the Accademia and Peggy Guggenheim home websites all get directed to the “VIVA TICKET” website – where it seems you have to first register for a “My VivaTicket account" in order to proceed with purchasing these tickets online. Is this considered ‘standard procedure’ - and – is this the legitimate/official site to buy tickets/reserve day & time online for these 2 places? I read stories on the Forum about rip-off ticket-selling websites.

  3. I want to see the Doge’s Palace. In order to do so, I understand buying the 20-Euro ticket also includes the Correr Museum and a couple of other places (the ‘Combo Ticket’). I also know the ‘Museum Pass’ covers this. I’d like to buy one or the other before leaving the U.S. But I’m having trouble purchasing either one of these online, via starting with the Doge’s Palace web site, and navigating to the following links, which offer a choice of both the Combo Ticket or the Museum Pass – but don’t let me actually buy either one. Not sure what the problem is on the purchasing webpage (these web pages are also ‘vivaticket’) - can anyone explain?:

I don’t want to pay extra for the Museum Pass, or the Combo Ticket, by going through a 2nd party online vendor, which may or may not be legitimate. Is there a different/official site where I can successfully purchase one of these?

In general I prefer making purchases online instead of via phone calls to all these different places.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hey I was in Venice last May 15 2017.

I got a walkup ticket to the Peggy Guggenheim no problem no line on a sunny day. Since you are there 4 days that time a year I would not sweat buying all of those in advance. Phone calls are a bygone era when you book everything online. Sometimes you have to get a 10 year old family member to do it for effortlessly online
