Probably not a bad idea to book ahead, in my opinion it is easier to plan my structured days if there's a place I know I have to be; not sure of the lines at the end of April, they may be fairly light.

You can get combo tickets for doges palace and the correr museum. Get the tix at Correr when there likely won't be a line and you can skip the line at the Doge. First time we waited almost an hour to get into the Doge. Second visit, we did the correr trick and skipped the line. And the correr is very interesting in its own right. (At least, you could get a combo back in 2010).

As for St Marks, even if the line looks long, you may not have a long wait. Last time, we were half way across SM square and it only took 20 min to get in.

Thank you for asking. I was just going to post the same question. But also...
Do you need to purchase Burano Lace Museum tickets in advance? We'll be there on a Sunday. According to its website its open. But I not sure about Murano Glass Museum. It looks like it's open too. And there are discounts tickets it you buy for both.
Also, so senior discounts apply for tourists?
Thanks for your help.
