hello. im planing my second trip to italy for April of 2023. planning on doing the following and would ask for recommendations or suggestions please.
- fly into Venice and stay three nights (airbnb)
- take train to Siena and stay 2 nights (hotel)
- rent car in siena and do the rick steves "heart of tuscany" using montepulciano as my home base (airbnb)
- stay in montepulciano for 3 nights and do day trips to monticello, pienza and montalcino. hit some wineries of course.
- drive back to siena, drop off car, take train to rome
- stay in rome for 3 nights
- back to the usa
i am most concerned with renting the car and from the best place. after some first looks online renting from siena looks like the best place and minimally costs around $100/day. i dont think leaving the car in a lot outside of montepulciano is really a concern to me.
this year i did rick steves venice, florence, rome tour in early april and it was AMAZING. this year i want to do this on my own :)
thanks everyone
thomas
